It seems like Game of Thrones is all anyone can talk about these days and honestly, we don’t blame them one bit!! The show is a kick-ass, fantastical ride through a world of dragons, bloodshed, and mystery. Sounds a whole lot more interesting than reality, if you ask us!
While the series is currently filming their eighth and final season, there’s already talks of a Game Of Thrones spin-off in the works. Hell, there’s talks of MULTIPLE Game Of Thrones spin-offs in the works. Needless to say, we are freakin’ PUMPED.
Here’s all the information we’ve been able to gather so far. Use this as your ultimate guide to all things Westerosi near and far!
Game Of Thrones Spin-Off Series Confirmed:
In George R.R. Martin’s blog he confirmed that there are currently FIVE spin-off scripts in the works.
Out of the 5 scripts, only one will be chosen to become an HBO series, as per HBO’s programming president Casey Bloys in talks with Entertainment Weekly.
The spin-off will not include the same actors as those we’ve seen on the current series. Sorry folks, no more lovely Game Of Thrones ladies to gaze upon. Although, we’re sure the casting directors will find equally as stunning, talented actors. We will miss Dany quite a bit though! Emilia Clarke explained to Rolling Stone:
“I mean, I have no doubt there’ll be prequels and sequels and who knows what else. But I am doing one more season. And then that’ll be it.”
- No matter which of the 5 gets chosen, all of scripts are prequels — meaning the storyline will take place BEFORE what we’ve already seen in seasons 1-7 and the conclusion in season 8. George R.R. Martin explains:
“I can say that, like the other pilots, it will be a prequel rather than sequel, a successor rather than a spinoff. Bryan’s series will be an adaptation, and one that will thrill most fans of the books, I think, set during a very exciting period of Westerosi history.”
This was additionally confirmed on Twitter by The Man himself…
BRYAN COGMAN has come on board to pen the 5th of the @HBO Westeros successor shows, and we’re all thrilled about it! //t.co/g8MWnzvo4U pic.twitter.com/bHyQAJBANc
